Too many cooks...
Hello!
Hello.
I've always wanted to do that. Hello twice, that is. And the second time would be in bold. Without the exclamation mark.
Another depressing post today, I'm afraid. Tragedy, fear, indecision, and perhaps an undercurrent of loneliness in the subtext? It wouldn't surprise me - my writing style is rather deep.
I'm cooking today. I decided to make the typical roasted tomato salad to start - a favourite of mine - and follow it with 'Grilled Chicken - Sala Thai Style'. The shopping trip started off well - I bought some HUGE tomatoes for the starter - but soon took a turn for the worse.
For starters, I am to prepare roasted tomato salad (I'm repeating myself here for dramatic effect) Ironically, the preperations for this course contributed the first woe of the shopping trip, and it was a light, tragicomic woe which should whet the appetite. Some large french batons were needed, which could only be bought from the Co-Op. I bought two of these (a second one would go well with the cheese), but they were still very warm at the time. Furthermore, I crushed them with my lemonade bottles, and so they were now squashed in the middle. Being warm and bent in half, they were flapping about in the wind as I left the shop, until I snapped them both in half and shoved them to the bottom of the bag.
No serious harm done; the oddity of the shape will not affect the taste of the bread, or the suitability for the dishes I intend to serve it with.
It was now time to purchase the chicken drumsticks for the main course; and indeed, here lies the main course in my meal of woe. Significant, expensive, and potentially fatal, this is the most barbaric obstacle I have ever faced on a shopping trip.
There were no chicken drumsticks! Rashly, I bought £7.40 worth of chicken breast fillets instead. The concern now is; how can I expect them to be fully cooked if I follow the recipe? They were to be marinaded, and then grilled for 20-30 minutes under a moderate heat (even for chicken drumsticks, I don't trust that to be safe). I have decided instead to roast them for 45 minutes after marinading them. Let us hope that this does not affect the quality of the meal.
I overspent on cheese, too. I am hoping that my parents will be generous in reimbursing me. I spent about £25 altogether. I will ask for £20 back, and accept no less than £15.
