Desire
Desire
A poem By Vanessa Goodyear
When I was little,
Beyond small
I wanted for nothing
Nothing at all.
Now I sit in my study
On top of my tower
And I patiently wait,
Hour upon hour
And when I have the strength
I wish
For a bronzed statue
Or a fish.
I want for so much nowadays,
They are to me unknown,
The pleasures I could seek
In all that I do not yet own
I long when I'm awake,
I feel the longing in my dreams,
My husband tries to 'pease me
But he never makes me pleased.
The day that I stop longing
Will not be a day too early
I long to have the jet black hair
And body of Liz Hurley.
